The Williamsburg Theater Project (WTP) contains a wealth of searchable information about moviegoing and cultural life more generally in Williamsburg during the twentieth century. All of the data in the site is collected and entered by undergraduates in Arthur Knight's American Studies film courses and independent studies. The WTP is part of a larger project, The History of Moviegoing, Exhibition, and Reception Project (HOMER Project). The HOMER Project is a collective of film scholars from three continents who are all pursuing projects where data about film exhibition and reception is collected electronically; the ultimate aim of the project is to have all of the individual projects cross-searchable.

The backend of the site is programmed in PHP. The database used to store all the site's data is MySQL.
